Summer
”Typical” lofotweather is two seasons pr day!. Due to the aveage temperature; for July + 12,8°C and - 1°C in January, we do have, at times, large variations. Summerdays from + 30°C to + 4°C does not occur every year, but they are not uncommen. Important gear to bring with you for summer trips are both sunscreen factor 20 and warm wollen underwear. The moist ocean air, from Southwest and Westernly winds, can make a summar day chilly.
Winter
Lofoten is pretty fare North at 68°N. Your clothing must be accordingly and it is you personal resposibility for your own clothing during trips and courses.
”Typical” lofotweather is two seasons pr day!. During a Lofoten winter we have, due to the fact that we are "in" the "Golf Current", from mild days surpassing +5°C. This is the temperature at sea level, with altitude and wind you know that you are north of the Arctic Circle. Our coldest days are below -18°C-64°F, they are rare, but you have to consider it when making you pack ready.
Use common mountain sense and dress accordingly and you will have a marvellous adventure at Lofoten Islands.

Seakayak trip stamina
Kayaktrips are planed after these standards:
A | Nice and relaxing trips, less then7 km pr day |
B | Easy speed, 8 to 14 km pr day |
C | Moderat speed, 15 to 25 km pr day |
D | Moderate touring speed, 26 to 35 km pr day |
E | High touring speed, 36 km pr dag or more |
Personal skills in seakayak
I | I am abel to, calmly, get out of my kayak upside down. |
II | I am able to rescue a fellow kayaker back into his/her kayak |
III | I can do braces, both sides, and self and group rescue |
IV | I can do braces by "instinct" and eskimo-roll(one side), tidal paddling, little surf and navigation |
V | Experienced padler (know when to turn back!!) |

Recommended equipment
In general I call cotton "dead persons cloth"; wool, fleese and other modern tech-cloth is better than cotton. In a cold climat like here I do not bring any cotton cloths with me on any trip on "outside" of the asphalt.
