Expeditioins in Sea Kayak (summer)
Expeditions are trips that we have not dune before or/and have little knowledge for the region we are entering. Most knowledge on these trips comes from books, articles of information from others that have been there or even live there.
We can, in close cooperation with you or your group, plan any expedition in Northern Norway or Spitsbergen, Iceland or Greenland. Duration is from 7 days and up to 30 days. You can take part in the planing proses in order to develop skills and confidence for this trip and similar trips.
Meticulous planning and good navigation together with well organised food for the whole trip is often a key factor to success.
The more extreme trips are done in cooperation with expedition leaders that have longer practise in this kind of activities. Jann Engstad is trained within the British Canoe Union (Level3, pending and Star4 with Star5 training) through this contacts he got a network of seakayers with experience from Antarctic till Arctic. My main contact in GB is Trys Morris Bruke, the first woman to become a BCU Level5 seakayak coach and she has a Winter Mountain Leaders Award. An energetic red head with “The first continuous all-female circumnavigation of Tasmania by sea kayak” as one of her latest achievements. The other instructors at the Star5 training was Olly Sanders with Irish Sea crossing, around Scotland and has paddled from Vadsø to Tromsø around North Cap in Norway on his list of achievement. One of the examiners at a Star4 has paddled around Iceland and is planning a longer expedition around Aleutian island. Jann has also had the pleasure of making the acquaintance with Nigel Dennis, both at his ASSC and at the symposium at Bulandet (West Coast Norway). Nigel Dennis is one of the few paddlers with Antarctic experience: 3 persons for 3 weeks in Antarctic!
Everything is possible with the right planning and personal skill matching the planned expedition!
Do contact us if you got some wild ideas!
