Lofoten Seakayak Symposium -09
A unique possibility to participate at the 4. symposium at Lofoten Islands, North of the Arctic Circle! There is a symposium in May in the Fjords of Norway by our partner Njord and we are cooperating at these arrangements. Guides and instructors are either Norwegian approved or BCU approved.
Program for the symposium 2008
Wednesday July 22th
Arrival day Morning
- arriving at Sandvika Camping; meeting kayakers you have or have never met before! Take a short trip to get to know the cooler, clear waters of the North.
Afternoon
- New BCU system explained in English NEW 3 and 4 star awards by Olly Sanders Level5
- NPF system explained in Norwegian by Lidun Hareidet
- General information on the symposium and safety by Jann Engstad
- Talk by zoologist on marine mammals: what to see, expect and do.
Thursday July 23th
Morning session 0800 - 0900
- Testing of kayaks and gear
- First-timers can try a seakayak
Starting two day courses 0900
- NEW BCU STAR3 training and new Coastal navigation course by Olly Sanders Level5 instructor
- morning: Skills; boat handling and personal skills
- afternoon: planning and wather talk
- NPF activity leader course by Lidun Hariedet
Starting a 5 hour course 0900
- Red Cross First Aid Course for seakayakers
Friday July 24th
Ongoing Two day courses; ending today
